Vote for the HP MediaSmart Server in the Engadget Awards 2008

Engadget rolled out the nominations today for this year’s reader awards and in the “Storage Device or Technology of the Year” category, you’ll see our good friend the HP MediaSmart Server EX487, in amongst a whole bunch of weird and wonderful devices, including a random SSD drive, a few NAS devices and the Apple Time Machine.

Remember, HP have already won Macworld’s Best of Show this year which, for a product that is not available in silver or white, is a massive achievement. icon smile Vote for the HP MediaSmart Server in the Engadget Awards 2008

So, a big shout goes out to the home server community at large – if you’re loving Windows Home Server and the special sauce HP have created on top of the platform, get out there and use your vote!

    I appreciate HP being a lead manufacturer of WHS systems, but I would say first make the gadget available before becoming appraised as a top gadget. It’s a shame HP does not market them in Europe (at least not in the Netherlands). Possibly because there’s no native language pack, but hey most people understand English pretty well.

    As long as the EX485-7 unit is only awailable to the US, this vote is useless.

    Sadly disagree with that Terry and even more so considering the very first webcast that you were involved with for the EX470/475 that got so many excited. It is downright inconsiderate of HP considering the support given to this product series. I struggle to see how difficult a target release date or even release confirmation can be for europe for an entity like HP. In the current economic climate, how can a company not make product available to a market that clearly wants it? No vote from me till I personally experience this gadget.

    have to say i too will not vote until i see this product in the flesh. lets hope they release it before the 25th or give a solid date for release. if not, no vote for me.

    Come on guys, think about it – surely winning these kind of awards is more likely to speed up a European release?
