    not really, the next version, unless they’re going to talk up the next version, and not just a service pack.

    Crap, that’s a loonngg time away, and I wish it were scheduled on a weekend. Are these archived, by any chance?

    @smadge1 -
    My guess is there will be enough ‘new functionality’ to consider this a ‘new release’, even though they’re labeling it a Power Pack.

    In Microsoft language:

    Service Pack = no new features, just fixes.
    Power Pack = new features and fixes.

    All signed up, but wish they were talking Service Pack instead of Power Pack. WHS has caused me all kinds of headaches since the Feb update

  • Timbo

    Hope by “Next version” they mean updates to the current version, NOT a new WHS that we will need to pay for!!!

    Powerpacks have traditionally been free, and I’m sure Powerpack 2 will follow that.

    As for Vail, I guess it’s down to each OEM as to how they want to support upgrades, but given the change in platform from Server 2003 to Win 2008 R2, I’d be astounded if anyone offered Vail for free. It’s a major new version of the product.

    In terms of what “Next version” means with respect to the session above, I’m unclear as to whether they mean Powerpack 2 or Vail.
