Wow, what a week.
As you may know, I’ve had the opportunity this week to spend time with Microsoft’s Windows Home Server team this week in Redmond, then heading over to Colorado to meet with a host of people in HP’s own Home Server team.
In the course of the last 5 days I’ve met fellow MVPs, community leaders, industry analysts, famous tech bloggers, business development people, marketing people, software developers, hardware engineers, managers, senior managers – hey, even a Microsoft VP (thanks for your time, Bob).
It’s been a huge privilege to hang out, share thoughts and learn from such a wide group of individual talents all with one thing in common – absolute passion and dedication to create a fantastic future for the home server category. Even Steve Ballmer got caught up in the fun this week (nicework, Donavon who will, on this blog anyway, be forever known as the Pimpmaster General)
If everything I’ve seen this week happens, then we’re all in for a really great time and I’m convinced we’ll see many more home server’s popping up in households all over the world. I’m really sorry I can’t share with you all of the work I’ve seen this week – but know that there’s some brilliant people doing some very cool stuff, that you’re going to love in the future – and some of those things aren’t very far away at all.
A big thank you to everyone I’ve met up with this week, and apologies for coughing and spluttering my way through our meetings! Not a great week to catch a cold.
At the end of the week, I had a spare day today before flying home tomorrow. As I’m in Colorado, I thought it’d be fun to head over to the mountain resort of Vail. Well, I was in Snoqualmie on Monday evening, so it makes sense to tick off Vail as well!
With that, I’m signing off and heading home – keep your eyes peeled… we’re in for some fun.
