Acer Aspire easyStore Home Server at CeBIT

Being in the US this week, I’ve had to miss out on the CeBIT trade show over in Germany, where Acer are showing off the new Aspire easyStore Home Server.

Engadget China have a 16 shot gallery of the hardware, which is looking really good.

I’m surprised Acer Europe didn’t use the show as the opportunity to announce pricing in Europe – hopefully we’ll hear what’s happening soon. All of the talk I’ve heard in the home server world this week is that this may come in at a great price – we’ll see.

Interesting – the UK web site of Acer has a page on the Aspire easyStore, but the UK product catalogue for Acer server products does not list it.

However, if you go to the Dutch web site of Acer, there you will find that not only is there a page on the easyStore, but the server product catalogue (prijslist) does list it.

    It comes in two versions:
    TS.R360W.011 at 461 Euros
    TS.R360W.012 at 528 Euros.

The only difference between the two models are the number of installed hard drives. The 011 has 1 x 640GB, the 012 has 2 x 640GB drives.

Both models have 1 GB RAM installed. It’s not clear to me from the product descriptions whether that can be increased (which I would want to do if I was going to use it as a Media server)
