A number of online news outlets are reporting that Acer have started to announce further details on the options coming to market for their new easyStore Home Server.
Acer’s Japanese business unit have announced the H340-S1 and H340-S2 home servers, the former coming with a 1Tb drive and the latter being bundled with 3 1Tb drives. Japanese pricing is set at the equivalent of $610 for the S1, with the S2 coming in at $916.
Whilst that’s the Japanese spec, we’ve heard broadly similar noises from Acer’s European team with regard to the options coming to market here, although the 1Tb single drive spec announced for Japan may be slightly different. No pricing has been announced for other territories at this point in time (but we may hear more at next week’s CeBIT show in Germany).
Both of the Japanese units will ship with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 1Gb of RAM, plus a few bundled features: a DLNA media server (my guess is that it’ll be Twonky Media Server), a one touch USB backup button and a power management add-in (based on Martin Rothschink’s popular LightsOn app).
Hello Kitty Windows Home Server-edition sadly not included.
We’re expecting to receive one of the first units in the next couple of weeks from Acer, so stay tuned for a full review.

@smadge1 – That’s their previous model, mate. That Liunux NAS device has been out for a while (here in the UK too). Not sure if they’ll keep that line going…..
