Excellent! I canceled my Amazon pre-order and got it straight from HP, since they now have a $50 instant rebate which brings it down to the same price as Amazon. And free 2-day shipping makes it even better!

I’m another one in the UK wanting this unit, why are HP so short sighted to comment (as I’ve read in a couple of places) that these aren’t destined for the UK? I hope they realise their mistake, and soon! As a long serving customer of HP products, it’s not what I expect tbh!

Just ordered an EX487 from HP Home Store online. $594.99 after $50 instant rebate + $30 coupon code SV2132 + 10% discount from my employer’s Employee Purchase Program (EPP) membership. Toss in free 2 day shipping and I couldn’t wait any longer to buy one.

This will be my first WHS!

Don’t suppose you fancy ordering me one, and I’ll pay for the additional shipping costs to the UK!?!

If you use the coupon code “SV0706″ at checkout it will knock the total price down to $ 467.49 (us) along with free 2 day shipping.

As of today, 2/3/2009, HP is showing Out of Stock on this product.

    Enjoy.

Oh man. I can’t believe I didn’t find any of those coupons. I tried a bunch that I found on techbargains, but none of them would work. I wonder if they’d apply one retroactively? I doubt it.

Okay, looking at the list of coupons I tried yesterday, I’m positive the SV0706 code that Bill mentioned above was one that I tried. It wouldn’t work yesterday. I just tried to use it again on an EX487 and it wouldn’t work.

Sorry for the multiple posts. I’m a dumbass. It says in big bold letters to enter the coupon using capital letters, and I wasn’t. Looks like that was an $85 mistake on my part.

I understand that HP has over sold there reorder for the EX485 and EX487. HP is contacting alot of the people that had preorders and HP is not letting anyone know when the next ones will be shiping.

I didn’t order mine until after release and it has been shipped. Delivery expected tomorrow. I would think all preorder customers would have their orders filled before mine. Matthew’s rumor about HP contacting preorder customers is probably false.

@John V – No it is not I have two friends that have them reordered with HP and they were one of the first ones and they both got phone calls saying that HP had over sold there preorders.

    @Matthew -
That’s odd. It appears that HP doesn’t give priority to preorders over regular orders. Seems I just got very lucky, my EX487 arrived yesterday. Nothing to report yet since I haven’t had chance to install it. I won’t get to it until Sunday.

    Best regards, John

Any existing owners of an AMD-based MediaSmart server considering to buy this new release?

To me the only advantage would be the software. I must say I am a bit vexed that not all the new software will be available (officialy) for the older version — since upgrading the RAM doesn’t void the MediaSmart server warranty, there is no reason why those who upgraded the server memory shouldn’t be able to download the software.

My interest is with TwonkyMedia — which looks better than PVConnect. Would love to get it on my MediaSmart server! Other software would be a great plus but I could live without it (e.g.: photo uploaders for Facebook, Flickr etc)

I cannot believe they don’t plan for this to be available in the UK !!!!
Does anyone have any new information if they plan to change this, i found it completely stupid!

Dirty question: The US model does it have the common 120v/220v switch at the back of the power supply ????

  17. Greg Says:

I was told a US model would work in the UK, albeit support delivered from the US.

  18. Chris Says:

The problem is even tracking down a US retailer/etailer that will deliver to the UK (and who has them in stock!). So that rules out bestbuy and amazon.com…anyone know of anywhere else selling them who ship to the UK? Or do I have to wait for them to appear on ebay?

i don’t think there is any company that will sell from US to UK electronics devices…the best solution is to have someone in US that will buy it and ship it to you (and pray that you’ll avoid customs)
And if there is actually that switch from 120v to 220v then it will definitely work in UK
As far as support only in US is a risk worth taking

I just purchased a ex485 from the HP shopping site and was able to get the $50 off instant rebate and used coupon code SV0708 to get another 15%. Brought the price, including tax, to just about 506. I even got free two day shipping!
