Fujitsu-Siemens to Offer Upgraded SCALEO Home Server Spec from January

It’s all go with Windows Home Server news today! Fujitsu-Siemes have just been in touch to let us know that from later this month, an upgraded SCALEO Home Server specification will be offered to customers in Europe.

Some of you may remember that two new models were released in November, which offered a larger amount of storage and reduced power consumption. FSC have now taken the decision to improve the spec further by increasing the on board RAM to 2Gb from 512Mb (an essential move as far as we’re concerned) and an updated version of Twonky Media Server.

Here’s the detail:

From January 2009 on the award winning SCALEO Home Server will be even better.

  • Remarkable 2GB system memory
  • Revised system recovery routines
  • Brand new pvconnect UPnP server (formerly known as TwonkyMedia server)
  • Microsoft Windows Home Server Power Pack 1 included
  • Support for computers running Vista x64
  • Backup of home server Shared Folders
  • Improved remote access
  • Updates to improve performance and reliability, including a fix for the “famous” data corruption bug

    Is there a good place to get these servers from in th UK? HP clearly is not an option at the moment as they are ignoring the UK market. Any chance of arranging a discount similiar to that offered at the launch of the 1st generation SCALEO servers? I really want to get a Home Server but feel very neglected in the UK at the moment.

    Is the processor (as it’s not been changed in the new models) sufficient?
