One of the fun things to do while surfing various tech websites is perusing the modding forums. Many computer enthusiasts have been become quite imaginative in incorporating a computer chassis into various unique cases. It takes a lot patience and skill to fit these items into places they don’t belong.
I am jealous. I lack both the patience and skill, as well as the imagination and tools, to produce these mods. I am an mechanical engineer. I am a designer, not a builder.
A We Got Served member, vasr, obviously has the patience and skill. He built a WHS into a Bombay Company Memory Box, which, to me, looks like a very expensive book, as can be seen below.
It is actually a box, not a book.
vasr transformed this very nice looking box into a WHS.
The first 2 pictures are from his a original build using a Jetway Hybrid J7F2WE2G Mini-ITX motherboard with 2 GHz Via C7 processor, while the last picture is from his rebuilt unit with an Intel D945GCLF2 Mini-ITX motherboard with Atom 330, 1.6 GHz (dual core) processor.
Hats off to vasr! I’ve seen some pretty unique case mods, but this has got to be one the nicest looking mods that I have seen that can hide in any living room.
His original worklog can be found here. His rebuild worklog can be found here. And if you like what you see, go the the WGS forums and leave a comment in his post.
