A few weeks ago, TVTonic made an announcement that the Media Center plug-in has been disabled due to the financial situation the world is seeing.
We regret to announce that TVTonic has been disabled
In these tough financial times we are faced with the need to take down the TVTonic service while we restructure for the future.
Although the service is being retired, you’re free to continue to use TVTonic to download and watch your favorite RSS video channels not provided by us.
You may ask: what is/was TVTonic? From their “About TVTonic”:
Video for your TV and PC: TVTonic is The Internet Channel
- watch, subscribe and manage Internet TV channels
- designed to be used with a remote control, keyboard or mouse
- works on-line or off
- subscribe for automatic delivery of the latest content
- exclusive feeds for TVTonic users
Internet TV is an entertainment avenue that could be a viable alternative to OTA, Cable, and Satellite options. Watch TV when and where you want. In order to get users to try out this entertainment alternative, services have had to promote this concept as a free service. Nothing operates for free, however, and in these times, advertising revenues are being channeled to areas where a company sees the best return from their advertising dollar. It would appear TVTonic is a victim of shrinking advertisement revenue.
Let’s hope that they can survive the crisis and come back stronger.
