Rick Drasch, the author of Recorded TV  Manager, has brought to our attention a potential problem regarding the installer of his Beta 2 VMC add-in.  Due to some technical reasons in the VMC SDK, a blocking issue may occur with his installer.

He has updated his installer and the latest Beta version can be obtained here.  If you attempting to install Recorded TV Manager Beta 2 and are having problems, this latest version should take care of it for you.

Aaron Stebner’s MSDN blog has an explanation of the problem.  A little bit over my head, but this may be useful information for other VMC add-in authors.

What is Recorded TV Manager?  For your reference from Terry’s earlier post:

Recorded TV Manager for Windows Home Server allows you to move, copy and delete TV programmes recorded on a Media Center machine to & from Windows Home Server. The new Recorded TV Manager Vista Media Center Add-in allows you to access those recordings on your home server directly from the Vista Media Center interface on a Media Center machine, or on an Extender for Windows Media Center.

Both the Recorded TV Manager WHS Client and AutoCopy Restart Service which are utilised by the add-in have been updated to support the new service.

Recorded TV Manager is available for $24.95.

Hello. I’m from the heartland of U.S. Lots of corn and beans, although Iowa is a lot more than just farmland. It also has a few computer enthusiasts (no, not me!). I’ve been around PC’s since I got my 1st PC XT aloooong time ago. WGS is one of the first sites I found centered around WHS. And the best. Every once in awhile, I do get away from the KB and enjoy time with and my wife and our 4 kids. And I do have a day job.
