Very interested in how the review will turn out. Been looking for a WHS system and this seems to fit the bill on what I’m looking for, but the cost for shipping to the U.S. as well as the exchange rate has caused me to hold off on this until I’ve seen reviews.

  • Guy

The one on the left is mine, I can’t wait to see it arrive…. all the way to Canada.

The reviews should be nie, as the Atom board has had a number of great reviews. Since it is fast, this quiet and low heat system should be ideal for the Home Server market. I look forward to getting my review out as well.

yeah, i’m interested in seeing how this performs as well. i wonder if the atom is sufficient for video transcoding (using tversity, etc).

also, it is a bummer that you void your warranty if you upgrade the RAM. That was a big problem for me, and a reason i didn’t preorder. I’ll wait to see what HP has to offer this holiday season (is Encore coming soon…or what!).

Anyway, seems like an interesting package, and should be a nice WHS….just wish I didn’t have to pay tranquil prices for the RAM +HDD upgrade when I could easily do it myself.

Well, I chatted with the online Tranquil chat and got them to upgrade my 500 Gb SQA-5H to 2 Gb RAM for free. This may have been an early pre-order bonus, but I should think you can get them to do it for you.

Looking forwarded to the review. I’am thinking about buy one of these, but don’t know if it’s worth it.

That is such a cool photo and it is even better to know 1. That product is shipping and it is so worth it 2. that it’s from “over seas” (not sure if that is UK or elsewhere and 3. that there is something to get really, really excited about re Consumer Electronics (CE) and how it finally means SOFTWARE and VALUE. vs. black boxes that break or cannot be upgraded. This is the beginning of a CE renaissance and good to see Microsoft at the heart of it. More good to yet another consumer industry and we will all win in the end. Bully to you TRANQUIL PC and Microsoft!..

Now that Microsoft has announced a 30% price reduction in WHS software will we be seeing a price drop on these systems?

  • John Dunlop

Will the review rip-it open so we get a good look inside?

Lets see the parts and design…

re 30% price reduction. Latest from Microsoft, is that the 30% reduction is for the System Builder (retail) channel only. This saving has not been (nor current plans to) offer it to the Embedded Channel (Tranquil) etc. (Tranquil do not understand this comment, but we hope we will see a reduction, and when we do, it will be passed on for sure.)
