Wanted: Windows Media Center & Digital Media News Writers

As you know, We Got Served is one of the community’s favourite places on the web to find out about all things Windows Home Server. Our WHS coverage continues to grow and improve, and will continue to do so over the coming years.

As we continue to improve the site, one of the areas we will be extending into is Windows Media Center coverage and other digital media topics. Windows Home Server is very much at the center of our digital homes, but there are many devices which connect to it, to share and playback our digital media, so it makes sense for us to extend our coverage into these areas also. There’s been a lot of discussion and frustration from WGS readers around the lack of compatibility between WHS and MCE, and whilst I have no idea if/when the two products will start to work together/come together in the future, it’s clear that we have a readership that’s passionate about both Windows Home Server and Media Center – hopefully you’ll all agree it’s a natural fit.

So, obviously, we’re not going to dilute our home server coverage which is definitely at the core of what we do here, so I’m looking for a couple of digital media enthusiasts to joing the writing team here at WGS to build up our coverage of Media Center and the Digital Media world.

Who are we looking for?

I’m looking for 2-3 people who are really passionate about digital media and and Windows Media Center (as well as Windows Home Server, of course) to join the WGS team to cover Media Center and digital media related topics, including Windows Media Center itself, Media Center plugins, Extenders for Media Center, Digital Media Receivers and the like.

You’ll be the type of person who reads blogs and sites such as Engadget/Engadget HD, eHome Upgrade, The Green Button, Chris Lanier’s Blog, Ian Dixon/The Digital Lifestyle and others. You’ll know what devices are available currently, and have a point of view on them. You’ll be excited about the future potential of Windows Home Server and Windows Media Center working better together in the future and have the time and passion to post 2-3 articles a week covering the latest news.

Going forward, we’ll be including hardware reviews of digital media devices and PCs, so you’ll be interested in getting hold of the latest devices (we’ll supply them on loan via manufacturers) and eager to share your views on them to the world.

You don’t necessarily have to have vast amounts of previous writing experience (although if you have, great) but you do need to be able to string a sentence together, communicate facts clearly with a point of view and most of all, have have the time and passion to step up your role in the community and share the word with We Got Served readers.

If you’re interested

If you want to get involved, and increase your presence and commitment to the community, then feel free to drop me a note via the forums PM system or the contact form on the blog and we can chat.
