What’s in This Week’s HP MediaSmart Server Update?

Yesterday, I mentioned that a software update was on the way from HP for the MediaSmart Server. My home server automatically downloaded this update on Thursday evening – but what’s in the update?

I checked in with the team at HP, and they told me the update includes the following fixes:

  • The HPNetMon service is used to report your WAN IP address to the TZO DNS servers if you configure TZO Dynamic DNS on your server.  This update fixes a problem where, in certain cases of the service detecting a new WAN IP address, it would unnecessarily report your IP address to the TZO DNS servers every 5 minutes.
  • An update to the help file to include the reference to the GPL source for the Firefly Media Server.

If you own a MediaSmart Server, the update should be heading your way very soon.
