The first new home server of 2008 come in the form of Hi-Grade’s Home-Serv 1000 and 2000 systems, which went on sale in the UK recently.

The Home-Serv is a multi-drive Celeron-based home server, available in a number of configurations. Let’s take a look at the options:

    What a cop out! A company making absolutely no effort to give you anything other than a standard PC with WHS installed. Of course I could be wrong and maybe they have some uber add-ins that make their system attractive…
    If they were £50 cheaper they might be an option, but at those prices I’d be going for the HP EX470 or the Tranquil T2A3…
    I could build myself a system like the 1000 with the same spec. from parts with OEM WHS for £250.
    These products don’t make sense and have no differentiator from the other brilliant products that have thought put into them!
