Cool!!! finally!! I was waiting for this! I’ve tried the trial and absolutly fel in love with it. Way to go Microsoft!

I installed this and configured it last night. It was very easy to get up and running and today I have enjoyed streaming my music right to my computer here at work; no more toting my iPod in with me from the car.

Overall, I like this add-on a lot and think it will we very popular among WHS users. However her are a few issues I have had with it after just one day of use:
-AVI (divx) files aren’t streaming for me at all. I have tried in FF and IE. I have tried opening in WMP or within the browser. So far, nothing. Doesn’t work.
-Music. I noticed that when I initially login and try browsing my music, nothing is there. It gives a message saying no media can be found and refers to an online FAQ. Clicking back on Music a minute later it says it is building a list and is xx% done. Eventually, the list is done and all the music including album art starts to load up.

As you can see this is great add-on. Barring a few issues it is the closest thing thus far to a virtual ‘must’ for any WHS that wants access to their media remotely.

    Hi Johnny
Been messing about with it myself this evening ,great add-in, I had a simiilar experience to you with the music but it did eventually load, I hope it only does it the once.

Just a thought on the video streaming, did you let webguide auto configure port forwarding, if like me and many other people I suspect autoconfigure does not work properly, I had to manually forward port 444 to my server, 444 is the video port.

Excellent addon. At least, we have something from Microsoft to compete with Orb and GB-PVR :)

Hmmm – went to install – got as far as configuring the UPnP router settings (my router has UPnP turned off as I static map) at which point it hung – and has done for the last 48 hours. I was doing this remotely. Guess I have to wait until I get home and can restart the box as nothing is responding in the consol. Strangely, the webshare appears to be working and the rest of the WHS functionality is ok – just the consol has the stalled installer screen in it and I cannot close or minimise it…..

Hey everyone I hope this helps someone. Webguide is an awsome add-inn. It would be even better if you didnt have to go looking for codecs. I did everything as detailed here and nothing would make it work 100 % some movies would stream others didnt. I read somewhere to use combined community codec pack for another addin and thought hey let me try it for webguide. Boy did this make a difference every movie streams and no more stutters. Drop Power DVD and use this pack. Also make sure you do install the ac3filter codec pack for sound. Insure that your router ports are forwarded to 444 and you should be all good. Oh remember to go to the advance tab to select the codecs. Have fun everyone.

Batmantch, could you provide a little more detail on your solution? Like you had, I, too, am having trouble streaming video over WHS. WMV HD videos stream fine, but grainy videos shot in AVI with a digital camera stutter badly. Networking isn't the issue, so I suspected that the codecs were a problem, but I'm not savvy enough to know what, specifically, I need to do. Wanna try to help me? :-)
