eventviewerpreview1 150x150 Add in: Event Viewer

Benjamin Robichaud has published Event Viewer for Windows Home Server, an add-in which displays your home server’s event logs within the WHS Console. You can choose which log to monitor, filter the entries (Show All, Warnings, Errors, etc.) and clear the logs too.

I grabbed it this morning without registering no problem…

It seems you have to register to grab this file – am I missing something?

Was looking for a add-in like this. Thanks for the link!

Seems like a neat add-on (assuming the performance issues reported by LibbyLoo get resolved), however my impression is that the type of person interested in reviewing the event log is most likely to just open a remote desktop window to the server and use the normal event viewer. I don’t have the add on installed (or even WHS yet for that matter) but if it looks at the security log, (in addition to system and application logs) that would possibly be a source of delay (that log gets huge quickly and can take a good 10-15s for me to load using the standard event viewer (on our reasonably fast servers at work).

Well my joy was short lived. This add-in slows my home server console screen to a crawl. Anybody else have the same result? For the few moments I could actually see the events I was impressed by the features. One thing I would definitely change is the ability to resize the bottom window where the event log details are shown.

Just downloaded and very useful it could be.

So far no speed issues that LibbyLoo mentioned but I shall watch out for them…

One thing though would be a filter to be able to find the time when the drives have balanced
