Hot on the heels of the World’s First Windows Home Server PC, the T7-HSA Harmony Home Server, Tranquil today announced the availability next week of the second Windows Home Server based machine in their range, the T2-WHS-A2 Harmony Home Server.

The T2 offers the same power saving performance as the T7 model (with a 24w output), but offers greater storage and expansion opportunities, thanks to a larger footprint. This comes in the form of 2 x 3.5″ internal hard disks, 6 x USB 2.0 ports and the ability to upgrade the unit to 4 or 8 eSATA ports – that’s a lot of storage opportunities for even the largest media library!

Like the T7, the new system is fanless, so will run almost silently – one of my favourite features of the T7-HSA.

Specs are as follows:

Dimensions: 387mm (w) x 356 (d) x 66 (h)
Materials: Steel, Aluminium and Polycarbonate – over 70% recycled materials
Colour: Satin Black (NB. the images above are of a generic chassis in silver)
Front Panel: Power & HDD Activity LEDs
Rear Panel: 12v Power in, 6 x USB, Ethernet
Network: Gigabit Ethernet
USB: 6 x USB 2.0 External ports
RAM: 512Mb (1Gb optional)
Weight: 7Kg
PCI Expansion: 2 x Free PCI slots or populated with eSATA 4 port cards
Hard Disks: support for 2x Hard Drives
Storage: 500Gb (1Tb/2Tb optional)
Power Consumption: 24w
Mounting Options: Desk, Rack Mount, Wall Mount, Floor Mount

Pricing

Base Unit: £399 (512Mb RAM, 500Gb Hard drive, Gigabit LAN)
Upgraded Specification Available

Congratulations to Tranquil PC for getting two home server models out of the door before other manufacturers have their first on the market! Hopefully we’ll have the opportunity to review the system in the coming weeks.
