    HI Terry,
hopefully you have already finished your work on your review! I am freaking out because of my excitement…
There are two things I would like to know :
    1. do you have got a daytime when you are allowed to post you review? Otherwise you might post it in less than 8 hours.
    2. are you going to measure the use of power of the hp whs in different situation?!

    Hi Lars,

The WGS review of the HP Mediasmart Server won’t be ready for a couple of weeks (as I’m currently away from home with work!).

However, the news that I have on availability, plus a whole host of other WHS related news is under embargo until 12.01am GMT Monday (4.01pm PST Sunday), so if you stay up a little late tonight in Germany, you should see it! There’s lots to cover….

What situations are you interested in with regards to power?

    Best wishes
    Terry

Actually, having just checked the release, it’s actually embargoed until 9.01pm PST (5.01am GMT)- so Lars, it’ll be with you when you wake up!

    Hi Terry,

so it is time to go to bed! Thanks for the info.
The situations which might be interesting to know are:
    1. Idle, no network traffic, no balancing, but harddrives spinning,
    2. Idle, with all other harddrives asleep
    3. heavy network traffic ( copying data, streaming music ( ie. via itunes ))
    4. backup

Just because of the climate, the energy costs the first 2 might be interesting to know. I have read that the guys in the US do not care that much about it ( take a look at the ms whs beta forum ).

Ok, I wish you a nice stay away from home. I am bearing that pain with you ;-)

    yours

    Lars

Here’s a dumb question – why would anyone bother to buy the 1TB version?? You could add another full Terrabyte to the thing (buy buying 2 additional 500 GB hard drives) for the $250 price difference between the 2.
