American beta testers have had to be very patient waiting for the Windows Home Server OEM software to be released whilst seemingly the rest of the world has been able to order it for a couple of weeks. Japan gets served tomorrow (September 29th) and according to Microsoft, the “official” availability date is October 1st (although the Microsoft OEM Partner site states that the software is now available on distributors stock lists.)
Reports on the MS Forums suggest that distributors do indeed have stock, and there are some reports of stock availability at online retailers.
Buy.com have reportedly had stock in today at $194.99
Computers4sure are stating they have stock at $187.95
Costcentral reportedly had stock and are out again at $172.26
Alvio are claiming stock availability, but “low inventory” at $181.67
So, it looks like the drip has started for the USA – let’s hope someone turns the tap soon!
