Big congratulations to Andrew Grant, who today is announced as the winner of the Code2Fame challenge, for his Windows Home Server add-in, Whiist.

Yesterday, as we reported, a group of judges from the WHS team and seasoned pundits (Ed Bott from ZDNet’s Microsoft Report, Paul Thurrott from Supersite for Windows, and Rob Enderle from the Enderle Group) evaluated the top entries to the competition following presentations from each of the three finalists.

Andrew picks up a cool $10k for his work on Whiist, which is a free add-in that allows you to easily host web pages and photo albums on your home server.

Second prize went to a newcomer on the block, JungleDisk, a commercial online backup solution for Windows Home Server, powered by Amazon’s S3 storage service. This add-in is not yet available, but will be released later in the Autumn. David Wright, it’s developer, picks up $5k.

The $1k third prize was picked up by Prakash Gautam for Community Feeds for Windows Home Server, an add-in which distributes text, audio and video from your home server to an Xbox 360 or other Windows Media Connect device via RSS.

    was the JungleDisk working?

  • Terry Walsh

I hope so, as it won second prize!

Second place is good in a race with so many entrants. Just make sure you dont back on horse only in the backup race. Cover your offline backup with online backup therefore reducing risk and outsourcing responsibility.
I can recomment ibackup.com and http://www.backupanytime.com the later is multi platform, I am not sure about the former as I only use it in a windows environment.
