Looks like Fujitsu-Siemens will be joining the roster of OEMs supplying Windows Home Server hardware at launch, according to German website, PC Games Hardware.
In a preview to next month’s IFA in Berlin (the World’s largest consumer electronics fair), the site reports that the company will be launching a 500Gb WHS system under the Scaleo brand, christened (unsurprisingly) the Scaleo Home Server.
As expected, the system will be fully headless, and will retail at a very reasonable 500 euros (£338/£688).
Here’s the article via Google Translate:
“With the Windows Home server wants to store Microsoft pictures, films, Backups and other data central also in private households with several PCs. Fujitsu Siemens will supply the hardware now as one of the first manufacturers in addition. The Scaleo Home server is integrated simply by gigabyte Ethernet in the network and administered by Web ACCESS. Keyboard and monitor are not necessary. The current consumption is to be below 50 Watts and the price as approximately 500 euro is indicated. But you get 500 gigabyte storage location in the RAID group.”
Fujitsu-Siemens are yet to announce anything officially via their website at this point, so stay tuned for more.
